Looking up at the vast twinkle of city lights beaming in the star covered night, I am in complete awe of the beauty and the strength she posses. This city is a sight to see at night, it’s more than a seeing it’s a feeling. The feeling of being big and bright deep in the heart of Texas.
As if I haven’t had enough of her beauty we decided to take a closer look. Taking the public transit from Truck Yard Houston a great local bar that hides a ferris wheel in the yard, and serves killer brews and allows dogs to play in the bar. Hoping on the Houston Metro rail and heading to the mist of the vibrant lights. Seeing all the Rocket’s fans assemble as the tram passes by the Toyota center. Crossing paths with Houston natives that smile because that's the custom and the way of life.
Looking up at the buildings as this city has grown taller than I once remembered. Searching for the best view to appreciate the beauty behind this city. We decided to take the elevator way up still we couldn’t seem to reach her bright lights, she seems to stand taller than we could ever reach.
Exploring this place is the best way to embrace the beauty and culture that lays here. The heart and soul of this city has been painted on its walls. Murals and art work drape these concrete structures, as if they have painted a story book for all to read.
As my stroll comes to an end I think to myself this city is forever on my mind, just like the tune says! This city is my first love, it’s where I grew up. It’s where I learned my values, where I learned to go big or go home. This city has changed tremendously in the years since i’ve been away, I suppose I have as well. But this city will forever be in my heart! If you haven’t visited Houston lately I recommend you take a night stroll through the city lights and have a beer or two.
